LPCA thanks

To the editor:

On behalf of the board and staff of the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, we would like to express our gratitude to more than 200 individuals who participated in this year’s summer gala in support of visual arts, performing arts and education programming at the arts center.

It is incredibly uplifting to see so many supporters come together to celebrate the arts and the difference they make in our community, from longtime donors to new friends and local businesses whose contributions made the event possible.

This year we were proud to honor Sara Jane DeHoff with the Spotlight Award and Lake Placid Family Dental with the inaugural Community Luminary Award for their many years of vision and dedication to the organization.

For over 50 years, the LPCA has grown to provide entertainment and education to more than 60,000 people each year, building a community arts center for all ages that is brimming with activity. LPCA has become a place where in one afternoon, a young student can peek with wonder into a Community String Orchestra rehearsal, relish as she dances like different animals in the same studio used by Martha Graham and Paul Taylor, and tip-toe through an Elementary Art Show that hints at ways she might one day see her creativity displayed in an art gallery.

LPCA would not be the vibrant meeting place for artists and audiences that it has become without the participation of so many supporters over the years. We are grateful to live and work in a place that values the arts and bolsters our mission to contribute to a thriving cultural ecosystem that will impact the Adirondacks for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Adele Connors
