To the editor:

It is with great excitement that I write to you to express my full support for the construction of a turf field for the Saranac Lake High School. I am hoping that this letter ignites the overwhelming support that this initiative has in our soccer community so we can turn the desires of many into a reality.

The world’s most popular sport keeps growing in the U.S. and with it comes the demand for quality fields in all parts of the U.S., including in the North Country.

As someone who was born and raised in South America where we have soccer for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it has been a struggle to find decent fields to kick the ball. I migrated to the U.S. with a high schoolers age, so I know that many of our youngsters are dealing with the same issue.

A turf field would not only dramatically increase the high schoolers ability to compete with the best teams in the region, but may also benefit many students from Lake Placid who play on the combined teams.

I hope this letter inspires people and lawmakers in the area to take action and work together in order to make this happen.
