To the editor:

Our community of Saranac Lake is very fortunate to have individuals who are willing to devote their time, energy and expertise to serve on our local school board of education. Our current school board has demonstrated leadership and fiscal responsibility in the handling of many complex matters presently confronting our schools.

One member of our school board, Justin Garwood, stands out as an individual who has unique credentials to address these challenges and who has demonstrated a high level of concern for the best interest of our students. His background in teaching and research allows him to combine his practical experience with his doctoral studies to approach issues with facts and data. That is a rare level of expertise for a rural school board of education, and we are fortunate that he is seeking reelection to the board.

I will be supporting Justin Garwood for the SLCSD Board of Education on May 21. I encourage voters to do likewise. Respectfully,
