St. Eustace church, Lake Placid Synagogue issue joint statement

(Editor’s note: St. Eustace Episcopal Church and the Lake Placid Synagogue issued the following statement on Monday, April 1.)

To the editor:

At this time, we are reminded that it is precisely our relationships, built on solidarity and trust, that have sustained us in working to build a more resilient, inclusive community. We know that we are stronger together, and we join together to affirm our shared principles:

¯ We believe the forces that unite us are greater than those that divide us.

¯ We reject hate in all its forms and any effort to sow division and discord.

¯ We remain committed to dialogue and the endurance of our communal partnership.

Speaking together out of our shared Judeo-Christian history, we affirm our abhorrence of the harming of innocent men, women and children. We pray that peace will speedily come to the whole world.
