Long live Dobbs

To the editor:

Yes, Dr. Federman, Roe is gone. Long Live Dobbs and babies. While Dobbs returns the legality of abortion to the states, we can nevertheless celebrate the reawakening of the “conscience of our nation,” to borrow a phrase from President Ronald Reagan.

Abortion involves a plethora of ignoble truths. The first is its definition: Prenatal infanticide. Rather than the protection of children, which is a true mark of the virtue of a nation, abortion has become to its proponents acceptable bigotry against children in the womb. The ugly truth is that abortionists can get “filthy” rich, not by healing or curing, but by dismembering or chemically poisoning prenatal children. Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell made $1.8 million dollars performing illegal abortions in one year, according to the district attorney charging him with multiple murders. As a whole, the abortion industry is a multi-billion dollar business, according to U.S. Congressman Chris Smith. Innocent babies are not the only victims; prenatal infanticide victimizes women physically and psychologically. As Mother Teresa aptly expressed, “Abortion is profoundly anti-women. Three-quarters of its victims are women: Half the babies and all the mothers.”

Reconsider the beautiful truths that our culture currently suppresses. Women have been gifted with the grand privilege of bringing children into the world. Remember the old adage, “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world?” Motherhood-and fatherhood-are noble callings, requiring personal responsibility of the highest kind. In some cases, it may be best for the child to give him or her up a child for adoption, and adopting a child is an honorable option. Are you thankful to your mother for bringing you into the world, Dr. Federman? Ironically, you could write your letter to the editor (“Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision,” Jan. 20, Enterprise) because she gave birth to you. While you can breathe a sigh of relief in that regard, since the 1973 egregious, anti-Constitutional Roe decision, tragically, an estimated 60 million fellow human beings cannot.

The birth certificate of our nation, the Declaration of Independence, states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these, Governments are instituted among men …” Americans must continue to educate one another regarding this fundamental right to life, and the wrongs of the “culture of death.” Our Creator, the sovereign God and Judge of the universe, weighs our motives and intentions against His revealed moral truth: You shall not murder.
