Thanks for making Saranac Lake’s FISU torch relay special

To the editor:

I wanted to thank all the people and organizations that participated in the Saranac Lake FISU torch run through town on Jan. 12.

It says a lot about our small community that we have so many wonderful organizations doing so many great things. Every organization has a website or Facebook page, take a moment and learn more about these organizations and the great work they do.

Kathy Marshall, Women’s College Scholarship Club; Katrina Dearden, Lake Placid Curling Club in Saranac Lake; Cathy Wigger, Women’s Civic Chamber; Martha Watts, Winter Carnival Queen; Rob Russell, The Society for the Preservation of Winter Carnival; Aleacia Landon, executive director Saranac Lake Youth Center; Lisa Tubridy, Saranac Lake Elks; Mary Brown, Saranac Lake Rotary; Susan A Waters, Saranac Lake Adult Center; and Jodi Gunther, Saranac Lake Moose Lodge #457 and Chapter #1909. Mike Ritchie from the Saranac Lake Civic Center Board carried the torch the final stretch and I can think of no one more fitting to do so.

It was so much fun to watch the enthusiasm of our student torch bearers as well. Petrova Elementary School; Jaxson Harvey, Lily Nashett and Zac Hoffnagle. Saranac Lake Middle School; Emii Colby, Cadence Kennedy and Brice Heery and St Bernard’s School; Lincoln Bovee, Claire Smith, Leib, Edith Fredenburg, Ella Bard and Cole Bourgeois.

Thank you to CAVU cafe Josh and Clair Bovee for the hot chocolate and to everyone that joined us at the Civic Center afterwards.
