Thanks for carrying the FISU torch

To the editor:

Members of the Woman’s College Scholarship Club would like to thank our own Kathy Marshall for carrying the FISU torch from Petrova Elementary School to the next runner down the hill towards the police station. We were honored to be asked by Jordanna Mallach to participate in the torch relay which recognized Saranac Lake’s participation in the FISU curling competiton at the Saranac Lake Civic Center.

Woman’s College Scholarship Club has been a part of the Saranac Lake community for 84 years, raising money to award graduating seniors at Saranac Lake High School and adults eager to return to education. Scholarships are given to men and women for college, training in trades, or upgrading vocational skills. Last year we awarded nine $1,500 scholarships to our local students after a year of fundraising with food sales and raffles as our main source of monies. We wish to thank all our supporters who have bought food and raffle tickets at Coakley’s and Kinney’s or just made donations to our Club. Meetings are monthly and the guest speaker is someone who can further our education by giving us information about their area of expertise. The community is always invited to attend.

For more information please find us at www.slwcscholarshipclub@gmail.com or call 518-637-9575. When you see our club out and around please stop by to say hello. Thanks again to Kathy Marshall for carrying the torch.
