Blue Christmas?

To the editor:

Not everyone feels filled with joy and cheer for the holidays. Some of us are dealing with the death of a loved one. Others may struggle with past trauma. Some are troubled by broken relationships. Others have health worries that leave us feeling unwell and unsure about the future. All of us are feeling weary of the constraints of living amid a pandemic. The merriment of the season may leave us feeling alone, alienated, and sad.

In acknowledgment of the needs of people who are blue at Christmas, the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake is offering a worship service of The Longest Night on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m. With music, prayer, scripture, and growing light, a sacred space of healing and hope is forged for people living through dark times. The community is welcomed to attend. A brief time of hospitality follows.

The church is located at 57 Church St. in Saranac Lake.

Sincerely,

Rev. Joann White
