Black Fly 5K was ‘resounding success’

To the editor:

On behalf of our students, faculty, and the St. Bernard’s School Education Council, I want to thank all participants and sponsors for making this year’s first in-person Black Fly 5K Run, Walk, Roll or Stroll a resounding success!

More than 120 participants took to the trails at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center to have some healthy fun in support of St. Bernard’s School. Jason Smith at Dewey designed and marked a terrific course that allowed participants to choose their own levels of challenge and spectators to cheer them on throughout. Freddy B’s Grill served up delicious post-race fare and Hex and Hop Brewery offered adult beverages while the kids played at the Lego table provided by Adirondack Brick. Everyone looked terrific decked out in performance shirts designed and printed by Bear Essentials Apparel. We even kept those pesky black flies away, thanks to a great supply of Bye Bye Blackfly.

Our Black Fly 5K raises funds for our tuition assistance program, which ensures all families, regardless of income level, are able to choose St. Bernard’s School for their children.

Our generous sponsors this year were:

Adirondack Engineering and Inspection Services, Adirondack Health, ADK CAVU Cafe, ADK Solar, Boulder Landscaping, LLC, Bye Bye Blackfly, Carcuzzi Car Care Center, Duff’s Dumpsters, Hyde Fuel Company, Knights of Columbus, La Bella Ristorante, Last Chair Fare, Little Italy Restaurant, Long Run Wealth, Lupini Construction, Moody Tree Farm, Mullarney’s Stove Center, North Country Home Services, Shaheen’s IGA, Taylor Rental, The Dance Sanctuary, Tri Lakes Center for Dentistry, Tri-Lakes Federal Credit Union, and Woods and Waters.

Thank you for supporting our students and families.

Sincerely,

Andrea Kilbourne-Hill

Principal, St. Bernard’s School
