To the editor:

I am writing in support of my friend Melinda Little for mayor of the village of Saranac Lake. My personal support of her goes back a decade, when I learned Melinda was advocating for people establishing new businesses in the Adirondacks. I was curious, so I asked her why she was so passionate about supporting people with business spark, no matter their age. Melinda told me that the issues we all face require building strength into our local area, and that we need to come together as a community to solve those issues.

It struck me then that Melinda has a superpower. Melinda excels at identifying the needs of her local community, then advocating for solutions and pursuing opportunities. Like climbing a mountain, achieving results needs a constant focus on the important steps, drawing people forward step by step. Melinda builds teams, then encourages, encourages, encourages the teams forward. She draws people of all backgrounds together into the effort. She helps these teams to take the numerous steps and clear any hurdles to accomplish goals.

I believe this is the essence of how Melinda approaches community service and leadership.

Melinda continuously seeks local input and listens to her constituents.

She listens to the people who work with her and for her, supporting them and helping them grow.

She has a track record of following through and achieving results.

Melinda is the best leader for mayor of Saranac Lake. I have great faith in her.

Melinda is the leader to help us all get results. She keeps after the details and works towards common sense, practical solutions.

Please support Melinda Little at the Jan. 25 Democratic Caucus (NCCC gym) and cast your vote in March for Melinda for mayor of the village of Saranac Lake.
