Kudos to Schrader for dedication to town

To the editor:

I just wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation for everything Tracey Schrader had accomplished thus far on the Harriestown Town Board, and my admiration for her as a community member.

I first met Tracey while I was working at Coakley Home and Hardware, where she shopped often as she and her husband have owned and operated Schrader General Contracting for 30 years. As our relationship grew I was always struck by her energy, experience, knowledge, and seemingly endless involvement with community organizations. She cares deeply about education and served on the Saranac Lake Central School District board for five years, as well as being one of the founding members of the Petrova Parents Club. She’s an active member of the Women’s College Scholarship Club, and works tirelessly to fundraise for other local causes as well. She’s also a member of the Village Improvement Society, and I’ve often seen her out tending garden beds on sunny weekends, which are precious here in the North Country.

Having grown up in Harriestown, I am impressed by her work to expand broadband there, reduce road salt, and ensure much needed maintenance and repairs take place for various facilities, like when she advocated for a new roof for the town hall. Lastly, I’d like to mention the importance of having somebody with Tracey’s ability to facilitate hard conversations and ensure open communication between all the different departments and boards that are necessary for the smooth running of a township. I applaud her accomplishments, especially in a time of great challenges.

Sincerely,

Brittany Sternberg
