Dangers ahead with more drug legalization
To the editor:
Despite its misleading headline, Dave Werner’s recent column (July 12) makes a compelling case for new restrictions, and perhaps the outright prohibition, of the sale and consumption of alcohol.
The statistics he cited show that alcohol is so dangerous it has the effect of marginally increasing the potentially deadly consequences of even safer drugs!
Now that New York state has started the process of legalizing safer alternatives, it may be time for us to take a hard look at the prominent place we’ve given such a dangerous drug in our society.
