To the editor:

Imagine my surprise and shock when I read Pete Crowley’s editorial column this morning. This past year-and-a-half has been difficult and challenging for all of us, not the least keeping our local newspaper going. It has been a heroic effort on the part of the Enterprise staff. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said a little prayer of thanks for Pete. I’ve wondered at times when he has time to sleep.

Now we must say goodbye. I selfishly wish Pete could remain as editor but know we must let go. I was never able to finish my degree as single motherhood and career took precedence, so I understand that desire to complete his higher degree.

So Pete, it is with all our blessings and best wishes that we wish you much success, as well as our sincere thanks and gratitude.
