Women’s Civic Chamber serves Saranac Lake

To the editor:

The Women’s Civic Chamber of Saranac Lake is comprised of members of the larger Saranac Lake area, and its purpose includes civic improvement and youth welfare. With in-person activities severely limited this past year, many of the events our community relies on to strengthen our bonds and raise funds for our community were canceled. Our members dedicated much of their efforts toward fundraising for the sole purpose of distributing funds to organizations and individuals in our community. Although impeded by the COVID-19 pandemic this year, WCC was able to support many groups with financial contributions. Donations have been made to:

¯ ADK ArtRise

¯ The Dance Sanctuary

¯ Dewey Mountain

¯ High Peaks Hospice

¯ Historic Saranac Lake

¯ Mercy Care for the Adirondacks

¯ Pendragon Theatre

¯ Play ADK: The Adirondack Center for Play

¯ Saranac Lake Free Library

¯ Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department

¯ Saranac Lake Youth Center.

An ongoing fundraiser, “A Taste of Saranac Lake,” a bound collection of recipes from our members, is available at the Village Mercantile. What a great gift to yourself or to send out to a loved one who might be missing their hometown.

We look forward to hosting events in the near future to encourage the strengthening of our community though activities that bring us together.

WCC welcomes anyone 18 years old and over to join them on the third Monday of each month, September through June. It’s a great way to make friends while making a difference! Please send a message to womenscivicchamber@gmail.com for additional information about joining WCC.
