Street walker’s plowing question

To the editor:

I respectfully submit one question to our village snow removal crew and their supervisors. Why does the sidewalk on Pine Street not get cleared of snow so pedestrians have at least a safer place to walk? I realize there are a few obstacles in the way (power poles, fire hydrants), but there is still a good amount of sidewalk a person could walk on. I bring this up because yesterday, Jan. 6, the village crew cleaned Helen Hill and could have easily taken care of Pine Street. I should not have to remind anyone of the amount of traffic that travels this village street. Sometimes at speeds not reasonable and prudent and complete disregard for a certain stop sign. I remember when the grader with its wing cleared this stretch, including the sidewalk! The obstacles were hand-shoveled to make it passable for walkers. I know … I was one of them! Thank you!
