Elise Stefanik’s dishonesty

To the editor:

I opened this morning’s Enterprise, and there is not one but two articles about Elise Stefanik making dishonest claims: first, accusing Gov. Cuomo of interfering with the state’s redistricting and, second, blasting President Biden for shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline, alleging it will cost “thousands” of jobs. It may cost up to 1,000 temporary jobs. President Biden appropriately discussed the matter with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Of course, she just wanted to make a big headline splash, and would not or could not answer questions about the serious problems with fossil fuel transportation and “substantial” pipeline leaks that have plagued it so far.

President Biden is earnest in his pledge to protect the environment. I fully support him in this. With all the damage that has been done to our planet already, it will be a “heavy lift” to reverse. I noted an article in the Wall Street Journal that the Earth’s ice melt is speeding up. This is fact, not fantasy. One of Trump’s more distressing actions was to replace the head scientist at NOAA with a political hack. These actions were meant to lie about the climate science, just like he lied about COVID.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Zahn
