Congratulations to Nicole Hilton-Patterson, director of the Adirondack Diversity Institute, on her well-deserved 2020 Wild Stewardship Award.

My sister and I were campers on Upper Saranac Lake beginning in the 1950s, and when we married and had children, we have continued this summer Adirondack tradition with our families for nearly 40 years. We have supported Tupper Lake businesses as well as those of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, and are heartened by their respective town councils’ actions to deplore racism.

In addition, we applaud all the many letters to the editor that have been written in support of diversity and in rejection of racism, and we encourage Nicole to continue her important work in these endeavors.
