Thanks for helping Franklin youth program

To the editor:

On behalf of the town of Franklin, I would like to thank Saranac Lake Young Arts Association for the generous grant to our 2020 Summer Youth program. Lora Couture, treasurer of SLYAA, sent us a check in the amount of 1,624.47.

Our longtime program director and coordinator Kathy Drake secured funding to offer a quality summer experience for the youth in our community. Due to COVID, Kathy created a Summer Program in a Bag. Bags were filled with age-appropriate arts, crafts and other activities to keep our youth busy during the weeks while they were home. We served 28 families with a total of 66 children receiving bags. The ages ranged from 4 to 4 years. Thank you, Kathy, for making another summer program a huge success.

For 25 years, SLYAA has been working to nurture and support the arts among the Saranac Lake Central School District youth. Their fundraising and work they perform is an entirely volunteer organization. The work they do to contribute to youth of our community is outstanding. It is also with the donations from the annual Phonathon that makes this all possible.

Again, thank you for all the work you do for the youth in our community.
