Dems for Senate, Assembly

To the editor:

In all the excitement over the presidential and congressional races, many people forget that we have very important New York state races happening now.

Kimberly Davis is running for a seat in the state Senate vacated by Betty Little. Davis is the current treasurer for Clinton County. She is a fiscal conservative who has spent many years dealing with municipal budgets. She understands the needs of the North Country people and our economy. Davis knows where the money needs to be spent to help us all. Davis supports governing regionally because our needs are not always the needs of metropolitan areas. She is active in our community and is an excellent communicator. COVID has changed things for right now, but she has already traveled our large state Senate district participating in educational, governmental and environmental events.

Claudia Braymer is running to represent Assembly District 114. This district covers all of Essex and Warren counties, and parts of Saratoga and Washington counties. She is an environmental lawyer, a mom and a supervisor for Warren County. Her outstanding accomplishments as a supervisor led Warren County include signing the Climate Smart Communities pledge and adopting the Clean Energy Communities program. Under her leadership, the county implemented four of the DEC’s High Impact Action items, including adopting a unified solar permit and installing electric vehicle charging stations at the county’s municipal center. She also successfully advocated for the county to add hybrid vehicles to its fleet and to add “green” provisions to the fleet policy. She is continuing to work on environmental matters at the county, including a composting project and a proposed law to require landowners to inspect their septic systems in order to protect water quality. Safe, affordable housing and infrastructure are also her priorities.

So please vote for Kimberly Davis for state Senate and Claudia Braymer for state Assembly to keep our state strong.
