To the editor:

I read Thompson Tomaszewski’s letter about wanting to change Saranac Lake for the better. Yes, things can always be better, but socialist policies are not the answer. It appears the candidates Tomaszewski supports have embraced socialism. Socialism has failed every place it has been implemented and has always resulted in higher taxes and increased regulation. In the opinion of many, our taxes are already high enough; let’s not make it worse. Saranac Lake may need a little improvement, but that can be accomplished without having to embrace wholesale change that Tomaszewski apparently supports. Let’s support people and policies that initially caused Tomaszewski to be attracted to Saranac Lake and not try to restructure the village as they imagine it. We can’t afford it, don’t need it, and I doubt most taxpayers want it. So vote common sense, and Saranac Lake will remain a great, affordable and safe place to live.
