Silence is a form of acceptance
To the editor:
Congressman Ted Yoho recently called a co-worker, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a sexist epithet in front of the media. In any normal organization he would have been instantly terminated for workplace harassment, unprofessional executive conduct and defamation.
Because we are represented by another young female congresswoman, I contacted Ms. Elise Stefanik’s office. I asked if she supports censuring Mr. Yoho — a modest punishment. The staffer said he didn’t know but would pass along my concern. I was astounded. How could Ms. Stefanik’s office be unprepared to respond on this heavily reported sexist incident?
I think we already know the answer. As AOC said, silence “is a form of acceptance.”
