A short clarification
To the editor:
In the Adirondack Daily Enterprise story published Wednesday, July 8, “Diversity leader moving out of Saranac Lake,” I was quoted as saying, “I’m mad about it,” in response to Adirondack Diversity Initiative Director Nicky Hylton-Patterson’s decision to move out of Saranac Lake due to to the hateful, racist graffiti targeting her and other Black people in Saranac Lake, as well as the lack of a swift, strong response from leaders in our community.
Peter Crowley quoted me accurately, but those words could be misconstrued as me being mad at Hylton-Patterson’s decision to move. I want to state clearly: I am mad at the circumstances that led to her decision. Hylton-Patterson is a friend and a colleague, and she has my undying and unwavering support.
My thanks to Peter Crowley for allowing me to make this clarification.
Sincerely,
Chris Morris
