Sad to see progress erased
To the editor:
I am frustrated and depressed. I am 85 years old. For over 65 years I have been trying through political activism and volunteer activities to improve my community and indirectly the world. Now, when I am old and tired, we are back where we were: racial prejudice, race riots, pollution, climate change, corruption, no concern for the environment. We are showing a “me first” attitude, a lack of respect for the safety and health of others. For a while I thought we were improving and developing compassion, respect and understanding for others, but current events show that the trend has been reversed. What a life! We are back where we started. Can’t we ever move forward? What kind of world, country are we passing on to our children, grandchildren? Aren’t you concerned?
