Help keep sick people alive

To the editor:

I’d like to thank Saranac Lake for keeping me alive and thriving during this pandemic. I have 18 chronic illnesses, and I am going blind. Since I was a child spending summers at my grandparents’ camp in Old Forge, I have known Saranac Lake was magical. Now I am lucky enough to live here.

AdkAction has been delivering fresh food that keeps me healthy every Thursday. All local food! Thank you those who have donated — everything has been yummy.

Thank you to St. Luke’s and my congregation the United Methodist Church as well.

I’d also like to bring to the public’s attention to the fact that during the construction on Lake Flower Apartments, we as residents do not have any yard to relax in and we are most at risk for COVID-19 infection. Subsequently, we use the teddy bear park and the strip of area across from our building. Please wear masks in these locations. Not all of us can drive, and it is rough enough with no central air conditioning and being elderly and/or infirm. I suffer for your right to NOT wear a mask, as my son and his wife are on their third enlistment in the U.S. Army. Please at least think of my elderly neighbors; they are so cool.

Thank you!
