Responsible leadership

To the editor:

Dear Mr. Wells:

It’s amusing to read your vacuous letter of April 21 extolling accomplishments for a U.S. congressperson.

You list Stefanik as a health care advocate for COVID-19. What about the Affordable Care Act? The record shows her opposed to it from the beginning. The records show her receiving GOBS of cash from PHARMA for her election.

You denote her leadership skills as standing up, participating, meeting and talking.

Golly … it walks and talks … but balance that against lying on national TV during the impeachment of Donald Trump.

Stefanik and her POTUS pals believe by waving the flag and mumbling self-serving thanks to vets, they are being patriots. I am a vet. They aren’t even close.

Mr. Wells your low/no-bar expectations for official conduct are easily sated with sound bites and fluff. Which is why my country is in such a mess.

Expectations for official conduct are simple:

¯ Empathy for those that struggle

¯ Honesty: Speak the truth. Don’t spin it.

¯ Integrity: Do what you say, or be silent.

¯ Humility: Willingness to admit errors and adapt.

¯ Fidelity: to Constitution, not a party.

Only Gov. Cuomo has conducted himself in this manner.
