Tupper town still refuses to fix sidewalk

To the editor:

This will be our last letter as long as this virus is around, but Mrs. Littlefield we are not going away until this sidewalk is repaired.

The last reports in the newspapers, there were a number of items that were not true. For instance, Mr. Shaw’s sidewalk is not covered in grass.

Mr. Shaw did take up about two to three slabs of the sidewalk. Did he get permission to do that? We don’t know, but there is no grass on his section of the sidewalk. John and our dog have walked his section of the sidewalk in the past few days, and it is completely sound and unbroken. Not like the stretch from our boundary line to the bank, including in front of the fire hydrant, which is nothing but a broken mess. Mrs. Littlefield refuses to put any money in the budget for the past three years to repair.

There are people who walk this stretch of the sidewalk, on the road usually. Over the last week we have been counting, and there have been at least one dozen.

We spoke to Mr. Kokkoris, state Department of Transportation in Watertown, on Thursday about the said sidewalk, and he has no knowledge of the walking path on the Sunmount side of Route 30 and a grant. How would that benefit the people who live on our side of the highway? Are you going to put in a chairlift so people can cross the state highway?

Maybe it’s time you moved on to a different venue before you get into a situation as you did with your village job.
