To the editor:

I’m writing to voice my support of Rich Shapiro in his reelection bid for Saranac Lake Village Board of Trustees. I met Rich, along with his wife, Franklin County Legislator Lindy Ellis, shortly after I moved to Saranac Lake in 2016 and started working at the Saranac Lake Youth Center. He has been a longtime supporter of the Youth Center and specifically our local youth, as he was instrumental in making the Saranac Lake Skatepark a reality.

Rich has become a person whom I feel comfortable in asking for help. He has given me guidance and ideas in fundraising, grant writing and help with problem solving in general. He makes me think “outside the box,” and I really appreciate that. Rich cares deeply about the village and its people. I see him out and about on a regular basis, talking to people and listening to their stories and challenges while offering possible solutions. He is a dedicated and hard-working public servant who wants to make Saranac Lake grow and thrive.

I encourage all Saranac Lake residents to vote for Rich Shapiro in the upcoming election.
