A valentine for Saranac Lake
To the editor:
From 1970 to 1980, I sat often at Waterhole #3 and wrote songs. Now at the end of my life, others have come forward to perform my music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOhxejj03do
In that regard, I put pen to paper for this in hopes a local music performer would take it the rest of the way as a song … Anyway … love you, Saranac Lake. Even now, living in Apache Junction, Arizona, you are my hometown valentine:
“Starlit Fireside Dreams”
Starlit fireside dreams
Nature music of moon beams
In a small northern town
The snow still covers the ground
But not your summer dreams
Just a small northern town
Where everyone around
Knows winter most of the year
The wonder of the ways
Getting through those days
Till at last the summer appears
Every day it snows
We get hidden in our clothes
And go on about our way
The things that we do
Helping other people through
Makes the sky seem less gray
As the snow melts away
You gear up to play
In forests, lakes and streams
The mountains are again your friends
And you hope it never ends
Starlit fireside dreams
Starlit fireside dreams
Nature music of moon beams
In a small northern town
The snow still covers the ground
But not your summer dreams
