Shaming

To the editor:

There is an old saying that everything that goes up must come down. How I wish the wall and cages that went up at the border would come down. How I wish that humans would all be kind to each other, to bring people up and not down. Unfortunately, it seems that there is little to no support for those in need, those who look, speak or act differently than those who control the wealth in our nation, those who have the power to do the most good. Luckily, there are many people in our country who give freely to others, no matter who they are or where they come from. They provide food, shelter and assist in ways our government has not and will not under the current leadership.

Our president, facing impeachment, sent a letter on official stationery to the speaker of the House of Representatives stating “you do not know, nor do you care, the great damage and hurt that you have inflicted upon wonderful and loving members of my family.”

Yet he is the one who hurts families. He does not care for people who are not loyal to him, who are different from him, who have different values than he has. He has separated children from their parents, he has bullied dedicated government officials and individuals who offer opposing opinions, including a teen activist, and now he dares to claim that “you did not apologize. You did not recant. You did not ask to be forgiven. You showed no remorse, no capacity for self-reflection. Instead, you pursued your next libelous and vicious crusade — you engineered an attempt to frame and defame an innocent person.”

Mr. President, YOU have revealed in an “official” signed document that you clearly understand the damage YOU have done to people in our country. Your defense is to blame others for what you have done and continue to do.

Shame on you.
