Great shopping service

To the editor:

A week or so ago I read an intriguing article in the Enterprise online regarding the Village Mercantile in Saranac Lake. I went straight to the store’s website and made an order, including a few promotional items for Eagle Island, where I and my late wife both worked and in which my kids and I have a continuing interest.

The order arrived with phenomenal speed, and I set things aside for wrapping time. But then today I received an email from Kathy Recchia at the Mercantile telling me they’d noted a possible discrepancy in the shipped order, which I confirmed when I inspected the package. We’ve now exchanged a couple of emails, and all is well.

First, how often does a seller note and inform a customer when there has been an error? Not very often. So I am amazed and thrilled over the moon by the service I have been given.

Second, the sheer kindness and humanity shown by Kathy Recchia of the Mercantile has overwhelmed me. I will do even more of my online shopping there, and whenever I’m in the North Country, the Village Mercantile will join Donnelly’s as a must-visit destination in Saranac Lake.

So thank you, Enterprise, for tipping me off about the Village Mercantile, and thank you, Mercantile, for your wonderful customer service!
