Toy drive, chili sale Nov. 23

To the editor:

The holiday season is upon us, and so is our desire to help our community.

Holiday Helpers is a great organization that helps families in need by ensuring children have a great holiday and no child goes without presents.

We ask any and all who are able to please make a donation of an unwrapped present for a child in need.

For the past several years the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department has hosted a drop-off place and time for your generous donation of unwrapped toys and delivered them to the Holiday Helpers, who in turn deliver them to the families.

This year the SLVFD Auxiliary will be adding to the fun. It will be hosting a chili feed/sale at the firehouse during the event, and all proceeds will be donated to the Holiday Helpers, so please consider having a nice bowl of chili with us.

It is truly heart warming to watch the toys roll in and the pile of toys grow bigger and bigger. Our community is very special!

On Saturday, Nov. 23, our doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to receive the presents. During this time firefighters will be on hand decorating the firehouse and visiting with those who stop by.

This event seems to be growing year after year. Holiday Helpers needs our support. Your community and your SLVFD will be there to help.
