To the editor:

At this time of year when we turn our thoughts to all that we have to be grateful for, I list among my blessings the opportunity to be an educator in such a supportive community. 

As president of the Saranac Lake Teachers Association, I’m writing to highlight one organization within the community with whom our union has partnered and found particularly supportive of our efforts to give back: the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber Director Patrick Murphy serves skillfully and readily to act as a conduit between the SLTA and Saranac Lake’s merchants, whether by assisting in organizing our annual “Shop Local” event or identifying businesses which might be a perfect match to help us fulfill a need on behalf of our students and their families.

In short, the Saranac Lake Teachers Association is proud to support local businesses and thankful for the efforts of the chief supporter of those businesses, the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
