Dear Rep. Stefanik:

A few years ago, I had the good fortune to attend two different week-long seminars conducted by the American Foreign Service Officers Association, sponsored by Road Scholars.

Watching the “performance” (as Devon Nunes would say) of the Republican members of the Intelligence Committee, I was appalled. I cannot believe that these members truly understand the roles and importance of foreign service officers to our nation’s welfare and security. Our current president also needs training in understanding diplomacy and foreign culture. The advice and perspectives of these career diplomats is vital for decision making at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Yet I haven’t heard of our executives taking advantage of this vital resource but relying on the advice of partisan hacks.

This is a travesty!
