Thanks for the coverage

To the editor:

I’d like to thank the Adirondack Daily Enterprise for its coverage of New York state’s first-ever Adirondack Oktoberfest held on Friday, Oct. 4 in Lake Placid.

I was happy to attend, participate in the day’s events and make several announcements on behalf of Gov. Cuomo. The event helps to showcase all the activities, attractions and recreational opportunities in the Adirondacks.

I also want to thank the many North Country elected officials, businesses, advocates and volunteers who made everyone feel the warmth of Adirondack hospitality. Their passion for this magnificent and fascinating part of our state is 100% contagious.

I enjoyed going fishing on Saranac Lake — and ended up leaving with a big catch! I also tried my hand at ax throwing, while other state commissioners and officials took part in biking, hiking and exploring downtown (not unlike the cold I caught fishing).

There is so much to do and see in the Adirondacks, and with state investment and support from the community and the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, we will continue to strengthen the economy and increase tourism in the area.

I truly believe that the best days lie ahead. Now, once leaves are down — let it snow!

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul
