Thanks for donating glasses, hearing aids

To the editor:

On Saturday, Oct. 12 the Saranac Lake Lions Club hosted a successful Eyeglass and Hearing Aid Drive at Coakley Home and Hardware.

Because of the generosity of the Saranac Lake community, we were able to collect 123 pairs of eyeglasses and two hearing aids, which will be used to provide better vision and hearing to those in need both here in the United States and abroad. Additionally, we raised over $400 in donations from the sales of hamburgers, hot dogs and baked goods.

The Saranac Lake Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the following businesses for making this event such an overwhelming success. We’d like to thank Coakley Home and Hardware for providing not only a space to hold this event, but for their generous donation of the hamburgers and hot dogs. We’d also like to thank our sponsors North Country Public Radio, Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Compass Printing Plus. A special thank-you to all those folks who stopped by to donate eyeglasses and hearing aids, as well as those who made financial donations. Your generosity is much appreciated and will make a huge difference in the lives of those in need.
