Support Jay Rand

To the editor:

The Stanton family goes back generations here in the Lake Placid region. My family has been involved managing businesses and construction projects, both small and large, for over 40 years. I grew up here, went to school here and raised my family here. I am proud to be a native. I am writing to express our support for Jay Rand for North Elba supervisor.

I met Jay when he hired me as a 12-year-old lifeguard on Mirror Lake, and he has been like a second father to me ever since. Jay Rand has coached and mentored countless children and athletes over the past 50 years here in the region. His dedication to our youth is something I truly admire about him.

Jay’s commitment to public service and our community is something we should all take notice of. As a town board member, Jay has been involved in every aspect of town government for over 30 years. As manager of Whiteface Mountain and the Olympic Sports Complex, Jay has been involved with major construction projects, overseeing million-dollar budgets and managing hundreds of employees. Since he retired from the Olympic Regional Development Authority, Jay can now dedicate himself as a full-time supervisor, which would be an added benefit for our town.

We would be hard-pressed to find anyone more ready to step in and serve as town supervisor for North Elba. My family will be voting for Jay Rand on Election Day; I hope your family does, too.
