Doty for North Elba town supervisor

To the editor:

It is my honor to support and endorse Derek Doty for the position of North Elba town supervisor.

There are three main reasons I support Derek.

1. Derek has an incredible work ethic. I have never known anyone who has cared more or who has been more giving of his time and talents.

2. Derek is willing to stick his neck out. Want to know what Derek thinks? Just ask him. Derek will ask questions, advocate for those whose voices may not always be heard, and will stand up for what he believes is right.

3. I have faith in Derek. He’s an honorable and decent man, deserving of our trust. Derek lives his life in service to others, and we are all the beneficiaries of his efforts.

I have had the good fortune to work with Derek for 10 of my 12 years as a town councilman, and in this time, he has become a good friend and trusted colleague.

Derek is pragmatic, willing to listen and eager to seek solutions to challenges.

Derek has come up with “out of the box” ideas on more than a few occasions over the years, which has saved the taxpayers of North Elba hundreds of thousands of dollars. One example is the Craig Wood golf house. At a time when we were advised that we needed to tear down and rebuild, Derek was confident that he could save the structure, at a substantial savings to the taxpayers. Derek was right. He acted as a project coordinator for the job, just like he did at the hockey box, toboggan slide, lacrosse fields and countless other North Elba projects, all at no charge to the taxpayers.

North Elba residents and very lucky to have Derek as a candidate for town supervisor, and I respectfully request your considering supporting Derek Doty on Election Day.

Sincerely,

Bob Miller
