Saying goodbye to Saranac Lake
To the editor:
It is with mixed feelings of joy and sadness that I am announcing my retirement effective Sept. 25.
It has been my pleasure and privilege to live in Saranac Lake for over 30 years. I have made more friends here than I can count, raised a family, and had a successful and satisfying career.
I will miss my work, my friends and the wonderful people of the Adirondacks, but having been in the field of veterinary medicine for nearly 40 years, I feel it’s time to call it a day and move on to the next phase of my life. I just want to say thank you to all the people who welcomed me when I arrived in 1988, not knowing a single person. It would take an entire page to individually mention all the people who made my tenure here a great experience, but you know who you are.
I will be moving to Boulder, Colorado (two of my children live there), joined by my significant other and best friend, Veronica Byers, to spend my retirement biking and exploring a new set of mountains.
One more thing: Please remember to support the Tri-Lakes Humane Society and its tireless work in our community.
Best wishes for Saranac Lake and all its people,
Karl Zaunbrecher, DVM
