Many thanks from Northern Current
To the editor:
Hobofest: some pretty big shoes to fill. We, the organizers of Northern Current, were humbled at the task, and we are humbled at the overwhelming support from the community in carrying on the tradition of this very Saranac Lake event. It truly took a community to create Northern Current, and we have a lot of people to thank for it.
We would like to thank Peter Seward and Todd Smith for all they created with Hobofest, and for giving us the opportunity to build on it.
Huge thanks to our sponsors: Event Sponsors Adirondack Health, Little Italy, North Country Community College and the Waterhole; Set Sponsors Cape Air, Casella Waste Systems, Coakley Home & Hardware, Edward Jones, Fiddlehead Bistro, Hotel Saranac, Long Run Wealth, Nori’s and the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce; Green Room Sponsor Tops Friendly Markets; Kid Zone Sponsors Play ADK and Stewart’s Shops; other sponsors Tell Media and High Peaks Concepts; Supporting Sponsors Adirondack Foundation, Champlain National Bank, Fogarty’s Lake Flower Marina, Grizle-T’s/The Scullery, Taylor Rental and The Wild Center; Lodging Sponsors Best Western and Gauthier’s Saranac Lake Inn; Media Sponsors WSLP, North Country Public Radio and the Adirondack Daily Enterprise; and the Cloudsplitter Foundation. This project is made possible in part with the funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.
We couldn’t have done any of this without our fiscal sponsors, Saranac Lake Rotary.
Finally, we’d like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, all of the volunteers who put so much time, effort and care into this new event. So many people had a hand in making it happen: those who helped us brainstorm our new brand, the people who manned booths at the festival and helped set up and tear down tents and tables, and even those who offered their support, ideas and well-wishes.
See you next year!
Lots of love,
Jessica Collier, on behalf of Northern Current
