Lindy Ellis: A proven leader

To the editor:

Lindy Ellis is one of the most intelligent, thoughtful and hard-working persons that I have ever known. More importantly she uses her many talents to serve her community. She comes from a family steeped in public service, with both parents in the Army and grandparents who served in World Wars I and II.

I have known Lindy for 10 years and worked very closely with her on the construction of the Saranac Lake Skatepark. Her skills were of great value in coordinating this complex build which involved many separate companies and the Village.

Lindy is always prepared. She delves into the specifics of any problem she encounters so that she can consider the very best way forward. She has a sincere openness and listens to the ideas and opinions of others. I know that she is well respected on the Franklin County legislative board, by representatives of both parties, for her diligence and cooperativeness.

Serving the towns of Harrietstown and Franklin on the county legislature since 2018, Lindy has fought to keep North Country Community College strong and was active in choosing its new president; worked with the highway superintendents to identify and schedule major road projects such as county Route 47 (Old Lake Colby Road) and Route 55, as well as paving parts of county Route 60; advocated for maintaining the airport runway width; and supported county youth programs and economic development.

Lindy is an engineer with 40 years experience at Corning and co-owner of a local small business, Gear-To-Go Tandems. In addition to the skatepark she has served her community as member of the Saranac Lake Local Development Corporation, the Franklin County Industrial Development Agency and the Franklin County Traffic Safety Board, and as Chairman of the Parks and Trails Advisory Board.

Lindy is a true friend, ever ready with kindness and support. She has boundless energy and is always willing to devote the time needed to thoroughly understand an issue. Most importantly Lindy cares about the people she serves and loves to meet with anyone to listen and help resolve their concerns.

Please vote to keep Lindy Ellis as our representative in the Franklin County legislature, where she will continue to use her proven leadership skills for the good of all our neighbors.
