To the editor:

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, The Saranac Lake Police Department sponsored its first National Night Out, a nationwide event that aims to build police-community partnerships by bringing them together under positive circumstances. Our hope for starting a National Night Out is to reach the community, especially the children, and let them see the officers, as well as all other first responders in our community, in a positive light.

We would like to first thank all those who attended and supported our first National Night Out event! It was a fun night for all involved, and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

A big thank-you to all the participating agencies for attending and making this event so enjoyable for the kids!

Last but not least, our sponsors and donors! Without your generous sponsorship and donations, this event would not have been possible! So thank you very much!

We hope everyone that attended had a great time and look forward to seeing you all there again next year, for an even bigger and better National Night Out! Till then stay safe!
