To the editor:

I listened to the president’s speech last night (Tuesday), and I’m appalled. Our president tried to convince us that drug addicts and rapists are coming to our southern border to murder and rape our law-abiding, white, American citizens. But what I saw on TV are a bunch of helpless, unarmed, bedraggled people running for their lives.

Whom are we afraid of? The invading “army” of women with little children? We need to fight these with our army? As far as I know, all of the mass shootings in this country were done by white Americans who were able to obtain assault weapons at gun shows and county fairs.

I thought the symbol of our country is the Statue of Liberty, not the Great Wall of China.
