We need a change in Washington

To the editor:

I am still a registered Republican, who misses the civility, values and integrity that former Congressmen Bill Owens and John McHugh exhibited in putting the nation and constituent needs ahead of party dogma. These beliefs are sadly missing in the current congresswoman, who raises lots of money for her re-election, then supporting legislation that benefits her major donors who are from outside the district. In other words, Elise Stefanik has already been bought and paid for and will not be representing us. This is why I am supporting Tedra Cobb for Congress.

Tedra Cobb has raised a family, worked and lived in the North Country for over 30 years, giving her an understanding of the needs of residents and businesses of the congressional district. Tedra Cobb is a pragmatic problem solver who recognizes the national health care system needs serious change and supports the concept of a universal health insurance program that insures employees don’t lose health insurance coverage if changing or losing a job.

Tedra is not a climate change denier; she instead supports addressing the cost benefit consequences of extreme weather events and taking appropriate steps to alleviate the impacts. She believes in protecting the environment from abuse by special-interest groups.

Tedra Cobb has a clear platform outlining a vision and action plans for making a positive difference for the residents of the 21st Congressional District. I urge everyone to visit TedraCobb.com for details of her platform and to vote for Tedra on Nov. 6.

This is why I am supporting and working for the election of Tedra Cobb as 21st District congresswomen. To be clear about my lack of partisanship, I am also voting for Marcus Molinaro for governor.
