A ridiculously non-credible scenario

To the editor:

There may be another credible scenario to that laid out by Gene Hibbard in his letter to the editor published on Monday, Oct. 8. It may well be that the absolutely, incredibly sexually savvy 15-year-old — who you assume was so very, very terrified of rejection — was wearing a one-piece swimsuit just in case she was so tragically rejected she could swim away with her unicorn friends.

Making excuse after excuse after excuse for a sexual abuser/predator screams ignorance bigly — and/or a guilty conscience. Maybe you yourself had attended a party as a teen without your parents’ knowledge. Maybe you maneuvered a girl into a bedroom, took some liberties, manhandled her or “copped a few feels.” Perhaps you were rejected and have dwelled for many years on your past actions, and have justified these actions with similar far-fetched and ridiculous excuses.

The truth is obvious … to those who can see. You need to cure yourself of your blindness and make peace with your demons. Please seek knowledge and educate yourself in these matters. By doing this, your time will be much better spent than thinking up insulting, degrading, unrealistic, one-sided scenarios which ridicule someone who had the courage to come forward about a very painful experience in her life. I was appalled by your extremely ignorant and imaginary hypothesis of what had taken place.

Fortunately, Kavanaugh was too inebriated to get past the one-piece and rape her. (How many girls have not been this fortunate? Or were so very fortunate he passed out?) “Luckily,” she wasn’t hurt physically, and her clothes were OK. She was only traumatized emotionally and mentally for the rest of her life. What prompted her to come forward was her admirable sense of civic duty rather than bitterness or guilt.

I’m highly suspicious of your motive for writing this letter, distorting facts and twisting the truth. I further find it disturbing that you find it necessary to spew this obnoxious mentality throughout our community.

Sincerely,

Laurie L. Hall
