To the editor:

Statuesque cardinal in your regal red, why is your chest puffed out? Have you not seen the blue jay in vibrant blues arrayed? And might I add, a little rude at the feeder, Mr. Blue Jay, aka Cyanocitta cristat. Is that Latin for lacking in decorum at the feeding forum? Are you industrious, yellow finch, or just nervous, not given to long light on a limb? Gray birds of many stripes and names, do any deserve less fame just because they kinda all look the same? Mountain chickadee, gray jay, and a shout-out to the tufted titmouse who be in da house. Honestly, I’m getting so I can’t remember a thing, like what is that black bird called with red wing?
