Tax bill, Trump do good things

To the editor:

It is not surprising to see the left writing into the paper about the tax bill without having read the finalized version. Let’s look at the facts: The Tax Policy Center out of D.C. (which is a very liberal organization) states that 95 percent of taxpayers will receive a tax cut or have no change to their deductions in 2018. The Cato Institute (definitely not a conservative organization) states that taxpayers who earn between $40,000 and $75,000 (middle class) will get the largest tax cut. And for those who complained about the student loan write-off that has been put back in, lowering the corporate tax rate will bring back money from overseas and create more and better-paying jobs. The Cato Institute even states that in its column.

As far as how the president is doing, let’s see: ISIS has been crushed, the NORKs (North Koreans) have been put back in their box, GDP growth is over 3 percent, consumer confidence is way up, unemployment down to 4.1 percent, 1.7 million new jobs since January, Dow Jones up over 5,000 points, black unemployment the lowest in 17 years, and I could go on. All this with 91 percent negative coverage on the president from the mainstream media.

Trickle down has worked (look at what Reagan and John Kennedy did), and there is nowhere in history that the liberals can point to that socialism/communism has worked. (How are Venezuela and Cuba doing?)

In President John Kennedy’s famous words, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.”
