Help youth center

To the editor:

Although I am currently living out of town, my plans include returning to Saranac Lake in the future. In the interim, I keep in touch with the many people, places and organizations that have been near and dear to my heart over the past three decades. One of those is the Saranac Lake Youth Center.

I am proud and gladdened to report that the Youth Center’s CEO, Diane Roberts, continues to lead the Youth Center into a bright future. Diane and the Youth Center board members have made it possible to serve approximately 125 different youth over the course of last year. Currently the Youth Center serves 15 to 25 kids each day it is open. Many of these children spend hours in this fun, supportive, structured and safe environment being mentored, provided with healthy snacks, artistic ventures and life skills education opportunities. Recently, the Saranac Lake Rotary Club installed a kitchen that furthers the center’s ability to provide tasty, healthy food and learning opportunities.

Yes, there are people who contribute, but if the center’s future is to be secured, it needs the entire community’s ongoing attention and support. I am hoping this letter encourages the people of Saranac Lake to support their local youth center. As the saying goes, “It takes a villiage …”

This can be done with a monetary donation of any size and/or volunteering your knowledge, time and expertise. Please consider contacting the Youth Center today and provide your support to this important, constructive organization.

You can send your donation or enquiries to the Saranac Lake Youth Center, 29 Woodruff St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

Or call 518-891-5846.

Thank you,
