Coin thief prevented charitable giving

To the editor:

To the person or persons who broke into our home during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 17 and took all of our coins, a total of $450, my question is, how do you sleep at night? I want you to know that $150 of that coin was to be donated to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, which is a summer camp in Vermont for children who have cancer. Some of the other coin was to be cashed in to buy food for our local food pantry so people would have a nice Christmas dinner. The amount remaining was to buy toys for children who are less fortunate. We work hard to save this extra money, and you never thought twice about taking it. You may never see this letter, but I had to write it.
