Help deliver meals to home-bound seniors

To the editor:

The Saranac Lake Adult Center is looking for volunteers to deliver Home Delivered Meals to the seniors in the area. The seniors who receive these meals are considered frail, home bound or having disabilities that prevent them from preparing a nutritious meal for themselves. This service also provides an additional opportunity to check on the welfare of the home bound, thus reporting any health or other problem observed during the visit.

If a volunteer is a member of the Senior Volunteer Program, the volunteer is entitled to a $25,000 life insurance policy and compensated for mileage (unlimited) from the time they leave their residence until they return home after the meal is delivered.

The volunteer sets the amount of time they wish to designate to the program, whether it be one day a week or one day a month.

Please consider this volunteer opportunity; it allows our seniors to remain independent and in their own home.

Please call the Saranac Lake Adult Center at 518-891-2980 or the volunteer coordinator at 518-481-1528.
