Great sister would make a great judge

To the editor:

I have known Julie Garcia all my life; she’s my sister. Julie has had many adventures and life experiences that make her the perfect candidate for Supreme Court judge.

We grew up in a family of six children during the boom of mining in our small town of Witherbee and the ramifications after the mines closed. The humble upbringing was the best gift our parents ever gave us. Money was tight, but we all grew up being kind, caring, hard-working individuals.

Julie was no exception. She ventured to California and Florida and finally came home after the birth of my daughter to be close to family. It wasn’t long after that she headed to law school, determined to make a difference. Upon receiving her law degree, she headed to Long Island, again on her own, to practice law in the Suffolk County district attorney’s office. After the death of our sister, she came back home to help raise her three children. For many years she sacrificed her own ventures to make sure these girls had every experience we didn’t have. She made sure they knew the importance of a good education, community and family.

Since that time she has served as DA of Essex County, worked in the Rensselaer County DA’s office and has started her own practice with clients in Warren, Saratoga, St. Lawrence, Washington, Clinton and Essex counties. She has seen firsthand the many predicaments people find themselves in.

Julie is well suited for the Supreme Court judge position. She is book smart, street smart and most of all still wants to make a difference.

Please show your support and vote for her. You won’t be disappointed!
